Burnett puts Yankees back on track (Asbury Park Press)

A.J. Burnett was pulled out of the game in the third inning when the Yankees faced Boston at Fenway Park on June 9. Manager Joe Girardi had little choice given that Burnett could barely throw a strike and when he did, the Red Sox hit it hard.

Mariners activate rookie reliever Kelley (Yahoo! Canada Sports)

The Seattle Mariners have activated right-handed reliever Shawn Kelley from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Mike Carp to Triple-A Tacoma. The team said the 25-year-old Kelly would be available for Friday night’s series opener against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Kelley is 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA in 10 games as a surprise rookie contributor in Seattle’s bullpen.
